Iminonai Kotoba (Words Without Meaning) - Solo Tuba and Piano
“Iminonai Kotoba” is a set of five short pieces for solo tuba and piano accompanist. Each piece is titled after a Japanese word that does not have a direct English equivalency. Rather, they are single words that represent ideas. In addition to showcasing varying techniques and styles uncommonly heard on the Tuba, each piece is written solely around the meaning of the Japanese word in the title and is meant to create a setting or solicit an emotional experience.
The purchase of this product comes with a download of the piece that includes the score, parts, and program notes as a pdf file.
This piece was originally going to be premiered in early 2020 but the performance was cancelled due to Covid-19. The most recent performance of this piece was by Taylor Orchard on December 15, 2022 at McMurry University in Abilene, Texas (video link below).
